Notes
The William Head Property is located in an area of Joe Batt’s Arm which was once commonly called The Head Room. At one time six to eight Head families were living in this small area. Stanley Ferguson and his wife Elizabeth brought the property, one of just two fisheries heritage properties remaining at The Head Room. It includes a shored-up store and a flake leading out to a stagehead wharf. Time had taken its toll on the William Head Property, but it has been rehabilitated. The store required some new shores, clapboard, flashing, windows and floor boards, and was finished with a fresh coat of red ochre coloured paint. The stage head needed resurfacing, and the flake required a lot of work – half of it was gone and the remaining portion needed considerable repair, including some cribbing. Longers (also called lungers) were used to resurface the flake/wharf.
